Ten Places to Visit in Perth

The city of Perth is the capital and the largest city in the state of Western Australia. Perth was founded by Captain James Stirling as the administrative centre of the Swan River Colony in 1829, and later gained its city status in 1856.

There are a lot of attractions in the city for you or your whole family to enjoy, so when you had a chance come and visit Perth.

1. Kings Park and Botanic Garden – Entrance is free to this place so you can freely get close to nature at Rio Tinto Naturescape, and if you’re interested, you can also learn more about Aboriginal culture on a guided tour, or you can just see a concert or performance in summer. This place also has playgrounds, picnic areas, and cafes that are all over the park.

2. Scitech Discovery Center – The place is an interactive discovery centre that is also home to Australia’s largest planetarium. The center also offers science performances and puppet shows. This is a great place to visit for the entire family.

3. Perth Zoo – Perth zoo houses 1,300 native and exotic animals that are from over 230 different species. It offers its visitor sights like the state-of-the-art African Savannah, Asian Rainforest and Nocturnal House, as well as the Australian Walkabout. A good place to visit if you love the wild. It’s also a great place to bring your family with, your kids will surely enjoy their visit to Perth zoo.

4. Perth Mint – It houses the world’s largest gold bar exhibition and the country’s largest natural nugget collection. The place also offers guided tours for its visitors.

5. Museum of Western Australia – This museum exhibits dinosaur fossils, stone-age tools, meteorites, preserved vertebrates and invertebrates. The museum also has interactive displays and activities where kids and adults can touch and interact with the collections. A very nice place to visit and bring your kids along too. They’ll surely learn a lot from their visit here.

6. Caversham Wildlife Park – If you visit the park you can meet and feed the animals. It is one of the largest private collections of native animals in Australia. The park has koalas, kangaroos, quokkas, emus, camels, dingoes and a lot more.

7. The Bell Tower – The place is custom built to house the bells of Saint Martin in the Fields Church that date back to before the 14th century, the Bell Tower is the only place in the world where you can view bell ringing or have a go at bell ringing yourself.

8. Rockingham Wild Encounters – This place lets visitors to swim with wild bottlenose dolphins, meet little penguins at Penguin Island or take a glass bottom boat cruise to get among the Australian sea lions. This place offers a range of ecotours to see the best of local wildlife.

9. Fremantle Prison – If you visit the prison you can explore the labyrinth of tunnels 20 m beneath the Prison on a Tunnel Tour adventure. Or you can indulge yourself into the darker side on a spooky Torchlight Tour. The prison was operational until 1991 and is now a World Heritage listed building.

10. Adventure World – This is Perth's premier amusement park with over 30 thrill rides and waterslides, plus Kids Cove with some of the best rides for younger children. A fun place to experience with the whole famiy.
