Museums exist for the purpose of conservation of a country's culture and heritage. It acts as a reminder and a bridge between a countries’s past and future. Sometimes you can get great lessons of history from museums and improve your mistakes based on those lessons. Australia is not only famous for its kangaroos, but its museums also serve as great tourist destinations

The museum's building is itself worth a look because it is made on the structure of a jigsaw puzzle representing the many pieces of Australian culture being made up into one country puzzle. It is located in Canberra and its visiting hours are from 9 am to 5 pm daily.

2. Australian Museum

Australian Museum is the oldest museum of Australia built in 1845 and has continued to get a lot of spectators by showing its extensive collection of wildlife, plants, historical communities etc. It also carries out a lot of research work. The museum is located in Sydney. Some of the events held by this museum are marvelous and are worth watching for the tourist. You'll find spiders, dangerous creatures, birds, reptiles, fishes etc. at this indigenous museum. It is open from 9.30 AM to 5.00 PM daily.

3. Melbourne Museum

Melbourne museum is located in Carlton Gardens, Melbourne. It exhibits natural environment models such as the skeleton of a whale, a real life rain forest, a popular race horse by the name of Phar Lap, and the most amazing, an IMAX theatre. It also presents some insight into the life of the Aboriginal communities of Australia. Its open daily from 10 AM to 5 PM.

4. Powerhouse Museum

You'll find some of the best collection of history, science, technology, design, industry, decorative arts, music, and transport and space exploration at the Powerhouse Museum. It is located in Sydney. They also plan educational programs for children. It is also an eccentric space museum and a planetarium showing you a lot of astronomical objects including a virtual tour of space. Its open daily from 10 AM to 5 PM.

5. Western Australian Museum

Western Australian Museum has many branches throughout Australia which includes Perth, Albany etc. It boasts of a wide variety of collection ranging from archeology to zoology, from astronomy to anthropology, and so much more. Among its diverse combination, you'll find histories of ship wrecks, life of a frog, etc. Its opening hours are from 9.30 AM to 5 PM every day.

6. National Gallery of Australia

The National Gallery of Australia is the biggest art museum of Australia featuring paintings and sculptors from local and foreign artists counting up to 160,000. These include Australian, Aboriginal, Torres State Islander, Asian, European, and American art. The art in the gallery reflects the history of Australia from its colonization period till now. Opening hours are from 10 am to 5 pm.
